MEDICAID (ICP) for a Married Person

Requirements for a married person to qualify for the Florida Institutional Care Program (ICP)(Nursing Home) are as follows:

  • At least 65 years of age or disabled.

  • Citizen of United States or an alien who has been admitted as a permanent resident.

  • Resident of Florida. Anyone residing in a nursing home which is certified for Medicaid is considered to be a resident of Florida.

  • Medical need for skilled nursing home care as established by the CARES team of the Department of Children & Families (DECAF).

  • Assets of less than $2,000 at least one day of each month of Medicaid eligibility for the institutional spouse (IS). The community spouse (CS) may have up to $99,540.00. The total between the spouses is $101,540.00 as of January 2006.

    If the individual's gross income is less than $633 per month, the individual is allowed to have up to $5,000 in assets.

  • IS Monthly income not to exceed $1,819 as of January 2006. CS has no income cap!
